“In the 21st Century the whole thing is creativity and you can’t measure it, the way children were taught in the past was getting them ready for this century because they have to be creative and have several different jobs in a life time. There has to be growth in every sector to let the creativity out. We are going through a paradigm shift and new ideas do count”.
Genius at Work, interview with Bernadette Tynan by Catherine Fox, Australian Financial Review, Boss Magazine, on work, education and creativity in 21st Century.

Bernadette Tynan talks about some of the themes and ideas in her book:

“Einstein has never been far from my mind when I wrote this book. Everyone knows him as successful scientist and outstanding researcher in his field. But life was not always so smooth for him. He encountered his first set backs in life early in his youth. But he didn’t give up, he was determined to find out what worked for him, and never let anyone set limits for him, - he set his own targets and limits and believed in himself. That belief started from a young age and was nurtured by his parents. His parents didn’t force him to succeed, they supported him as best they could, with love, knowledge, and an open mind when it came to letting him make informed decisions about his future. The world has changed a lot since then, but one thing hasn’t changed: the importance of knowledge and the meeting of knowledge with that brilliant and natural gift all children are born with: creativity and imagination. There isn’t a test in the world that can measure these magic human factors, nor capture the full rainbow of gifts every child possesses. Research has mushroomed in recent years about how the mind works, how children think and learn, even the importance of diet and exercise in basic brain maintenance – for all ages. I wanted to put all that important knowledge in an easy-to-use book that was written with the busy parent of today in mind; a book that put all that knowledge at parent’s and children’s fingertips, and forged a link between schools, parents and children also. Everyone can use this book, and I have had adults say it has helped them as well as their children.
"Every child is an individual as their own thumb print. No one system or theory of learning will work for every child. One size doesn’t and never can or should be forced to fit all in learning. In an age when we have started to personalise our medicine, food and clothing to suit our own specific needs, this book shows how your child can tailor-make a system of learning that works for them, grows with them as they grow, and puts all the knowledge they need to do this, and realise their potential, in the best hands possible - their own. Once they have that knowledge then as every parent and teacher knows - not even the sky is the limit. Every child is a special star, and I am rooting for all of them!”
